I´m not sure why, but the highway was closed and there was a carnival atmosphere all about. I tried pushing my motorcycle quietly through the crowd while everyone gawked at me, but I was told to stop. A Mexican man who spoke a little English said it was a celebration in honor of a religious teacher who was coming up the highway from the other direction. He said the road would be closed for several more hours. Can you imagine shutting down I-5 or I-10 because a religious teacher was coming to town? This was Mexico 200 - the main highway along the coast.
