Bad Things Can Happen After Dark...

Jene´s been ill for several days, and he needed a full day of rest, so I rode ahead with the Canadians while JD and Noel stayed behind with Jene. We rode past this controlled burn of a sugar cane field in the late afternoon after what had been a day filled with stunning ocean views. The three of us decided to press on to a tiny coastal town, but it meant we had to ride at night once again. The night-riding gods really punished us for this judgement error. We lost René´in heavy traffic in a medium sized town and never found him again - until the next morning. By then, we had searched for him for hours after dark, we had activated the Spot´s 911 search and rescue feature, and we had alarmed Rene´s and Fernand´s families back home. Fortunately, Rene´ was safe and sound all the while and he ended up in a hotel a few miles from Fernand and I. The next morning Fernand and Rene´took off on their own again, while I waited in La Union for my group to catch up.

The photo is impressingly beautiful, but the story is dreadful... I hope nothing worse would happen.
