La Ruta Maya is a Spanish term meaning "The Maya Route" which isn't actually a specific route from point "A" to point "B", but more of a general reference to travelling through the heart of Central America where the ancient Mayan civilization once flourished. As I planned and prepared for a month-long motorcycle ride from the U.S. to Panama, I became increasingly intrigued by the Mayan heritage which prevails throughout this part of the world. Thus, the theme for this trip emerged... In addition to great riding and comraderie, this epic motorcycle vacation will be full of Mayan history and anthropology. We'll be crossing the border at Tecate' on January 6th and riding South to Panama over the next 30 days. Stay tuned to this blog for photos and stories as the trip unfolds.
